I Dropped the Phone On My Baby’s Head

I accidentally dropped my phone on my baby's head, and I'm feeling quite anxious about the situation. I want to ensure that my baby is okay and take any necessary steps to address the incident properly. Are there specific signs I should watch for to determine if there might be an injury? Should I seek immediate medical attention, or are there initial measures I can take at home to assess the situation? I'm a bit shaken by what happened, and any guidance on how to handle this and what signs to monitor for reassurance would be greatly appreciated. My primary concern is my baby's well-being, and I want to make sure I respond appropriately to this accidental event.

There is no damage caused by dropping a mobile phone on their head.

If you’d launched it full pelt, then maybe I’d suggest a check up. But there is no way you have caused any hidden damage in this scenario.

It was over 30 years ago but I dropped a camera and it caught my baby son’s forehead. I kept an eye on him but he was fine, he had a slight red mark the following day but that was all.

How old is your baby? A newborn is very different to an 11mth old. Did you drop the phone from a height or whilst baby was sat on your lap? I'd imagine your baby will be absolutely fine.

It might be worth seeing if there's any paediatric first aid courses locally which will give you more confidence to deal with future incidents and, trust me, there will be plenty of bumps over the years. Accidents happen. Don't blame yourself.

How Can I know if there is any long-term problem for my baby?

I suppose if it fell sharply and hit baby's head with the corner you might see a bruise in a day or 2 but that's the sort of long term affect you'd be looking for. I wouldn't expect to see anything more or be worried about this

OP, there won’t be. I promise. I dropped iPad and various phones on my babies over the years (I had 4).

They are a lot tougher than they look. And any damage would be surface and they’ll roar the place down for a few mins. On the 1 in a billion chance you’ve given baby a concussion (you didn’t, I am certain), once you get past 24hrs you can stop worrying about that completely.

it’s hard not to be anxious with new babies, especially first ones. But your baby is fine.
