Straight forward question , is it possibly to obtain the funding for 30 hours childcare if your child is attending for less than 30 hours?

If your child is attending 20 hours for example then yes you can receive funding for those 20 hours.

Only for the hours they attend. Also it doesn't usually include lunch or early starts

Hello.i was wondering if anyone can advise me on the 30 hours childcare. I'm waiting for my DBS to complete but it's taking ages, can't start work before then. I have applied for the 30h childcare was provided with the code and all, nursery sorted but now my DBS is taking ages and I don't have a start date yet. My son is eligible to start the 30h now in January but since I'm official still unemployed and won't know when I start work, what will happen with this code? Or childcare? Is there a grace period ? Can my son still attend 30h even if I haven't yet started work?
Thank you very much

The grace period is 3 months. What do you mean eligible to start? He will be eligible from January 1st if he's 3 already otherwise it's April 1st.

Yes you can get funding – it's up to 30 hours, so you don't have to use them all. Check when your nursery accepts hours, as often it will be for the main morning and afternoon sessions and not for breakfast/later sessions. For example, at my son's nursery, the hours are valid 9–3pm and my son attends 4 days a week so we use 24 hours of funded childcare.
