i had topick up my step son from school yesterday as he had been ill the day before!
i didint think that you could send a sick child to cm?

crace · 13/03/2008 13:49

It's 24-48 hours for D&V bugs after the last episode. I wouldn't take a child under any circumstances. I have done in the past and we all got really ill, so it's a mistake I won't make again!

I would send them home!

fordfiesta · 13/03/2008 13:51

Think i would expect you to send home if you were my ds's child minder...... just out of curiosity do they ring during the day to check on them when they are sick?

OFSTEDoutstanding · 13/03/2008 13:52

Don't forget nm if you accept the sick child and then get ill yourself you lose out on payment from all the other mindees when you have to cancel!
Send them home if they are ill and make sure you have a policy to say that is what will happen.

i will take a mindee on anti-biotics if they are ok/happy in themself , if it's for an ear/chest infection - i won't take a sick child [for reasons of infection control] and i don't think it's fair to bring a child if all they want is their mummy.

narkymum - how can you just stay in? do you just have this one mindee? if you have others + schoolrun how is that fair on them? she sounds like a right cow

www.hpa.org.uk/infections/topics_az/schools/default.htm

If you ring the number they'll send you a free poster which you can show parents says that children must stay away from schools, nurseries & childminders- need 48 hours clear of diarrhoea or sickness before they return to you.
