Hi.

I currently get 15 hours free childcare for my 3 year old son. He is in receipt of DLA and I get carers allowance for him. I am a single parent.

Does this make me eligible for 30 hours free childcare now I get carers allowance? I am reading conflicting things.

This is the eligibility section on the gov website but only talks about couples, so unsure what it is for single parents who get carers. Thanks!

Hi - no unfortunately you wouldn’t qualify. The reason that it refers to partner whilst you’re receiving specified benefits is that the partner would satisfy the working requirement. As you aren’t in employment and your don’t have a partner that is in employment you won’t qualify.
