Unsettled baby

Hi Everyone, my baby is 8 months old. He has always been so unsettled, he has colic and reflux which he has medicine for and also CMPA which he is on hyper allergenic milk for but he never seems to be content and happy. Even when he has naps or is going to bed he is always thrashing around and just seems so upset. I can not count the amount of times I have been to the doctors/health visitor/dietitian to try and find out why he is so unhappy and unsettled to see if anything else can be done to help him but the all just say he has colic and reflux and he will grow out of it by six months or when he can sit up by himself. I have even been to a cranial oestopath but that didn’t seem to help in any way. He is 8 months now and if anything it’s getting worse, there are days when he cries/moans 80 percent of the day. He also wants to be constantly amused, we play with a toy and after a minute he will start crying. I read books to him I take him to classes but after literally a minute of each activity he just cries and wants to move on to the next thing wanting constant stimulation otherwise he gets so upset. We go out for walks every day which is the only thing that use to calm him but now even that doesn’t work. I am due to go back to work next month once he is 9 months old and I’m just so worried about him going to the child Minder and how both parties will cope. Im really worried the child minder will say she can’t have him as she has two other children to look after and he is very full on. I’m just wondering if anyone else has experience of their baby being so unhappy all the time and any advice really. Thank you for reading.

What medicine is is on for reflux

Did you see a specialist ?

Dr neih shah at Portland is very good

I'm a maternity nurse and send many of my Clients and their babies to see him

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply, he was put on carobel at first and the omeprazole and now infant gaviscon I feel like nothing seems to work or settle him he just seems so unhappy and it’s so draining trying to spend the whole day stopping him crying 😔I feel very let down by the doctors as I have been back to them so many times as I think something must be wrong but they are just no help at all and act like I’m making a fuss out of nothing everyone that meets him says it’s not normal for a baby to cry as much as he does

It is hard when your abby is unsettled unhappy and cons that crying

There is usually a reason and often the reflux is a symptom so need to find the cause

Stopping dairy often helps

I find gaviscon usually only works for mild reflux

Proper severe reflux qnd needs drugs. You say baby is on omeprazole - what dose

It is done on weight so May need a higher dose

It is worth seeing a specialist rather then a doctor as many doctors aren't reflux trained

What milk is he on

Usually neocate is the best for cmpa

Other milks like nutrimagan are more for intolerances rather then allergies
