CHILD DLA 2023!

I thought I'll start a new thread, I was wondering if anyone was in the same situation at me.
My little boys has ADHD /ASD/ High sensory overload/ impulsive decisions/ deaf defect
I sent my DLA child claim back in April and my scan date is the 25/05/2023.
I'm getting anxious now the time is approaching, I've sent documents back for evidence just unfortunately no diagnosis as of yet due to the high demand in referrals.
I phone in June to be told a decision should be made by the end of July, now it's August and I phoned today for them to say will be end of August and a DM takes 2 weeks to make a final decision so could be September.
This is a new claim, has anyone been awarded for ADHD/ASD with no formal diagnosis but evidence from school and teachers and family members? Im worried he won't be awarded.
Any information would be so helpful and appreciated.
Good luck to everyone who is waiting

It goes in care needs not diagnosis so if they have care needs than are more than a typical child of the same age for more than 1 hour a day and have some supporting evidence they should be rewarded

Hi everyone so glad I came across all these threads. My scan date 10/5. Was initially told would have a decision within 15 weeks. I'm currently week 14. Called yesterday to be told its 18 weeks I won't hear back until mid Sept.

We've been awarded twice pre diagnosis. Not sure what rate I've got yet for the second one. First got middle rate care. I did have documentation from school which backed up what I was saying. I think if you have the same then a diagnosis doesn't add much. Care needs vary so much for autistic people that they can't decide much based on diagnosis alone.

Neastmom · 13/08/2023 13:15

We got awarded originally 2 years ago without a diagnosis.Waiting on our renewal now(25/05)since then our son has been officially diagnosed with
autism
selective mutism
chromosome micro deletion
Been told the decision will be made a few days prior to the end of our current award

My ds was awarded dla without a diagnosis. We had a letter from his paediatrician stating that he was being referred for an autism diagnosis, but that was all we had as evidence.

Hi all my sons scan date was the 15th of June so coming up to 15 weeks on Thursday. Has anyone had a scan date close to this and had a decision yet ?

Crystalgirl22 · 27/09/2023 12:56

Hi, my scan date was 23rd May and today 27th September I have received a payment to my bank. I haven't as yet received the confirmation letter of what has been awarded though, hopefully will receive soon.

Scan date 6/6 - phoned yesterday and told it is with a DM and we should here in 1-2 weeks. I am a little concerned as I only sent ADS diagnosis letter and complete the form with the difficulties he experiences. Has anyone been awarded with similar evidence?

Leepee80 · 01/11/2023 09:12

Hi my scan date was 4th July 23 and still not heard anything had anyone else got that date and heard please x

gotomomo · 01/11/2023 09:32

The form is really important, far more than a diagnosis - you need to evidence how parenting your child is harder than a child of their age basically. It can be hard to get dla when very young as their needs aren't that different, I finally got it for my dd aged 8 despite her being diagnosed at 2.

Documentation that helps includes reports from childcare settings, therapists, camhs, senco etc.

Sorry to not have magic insight into helping you but it's quite a long slog and we've been to appeal 3 times and finally gave up bothering once she was 22 (pip by then) because of the stress on her

my son was awarded middle rate DLA with evidence provided. I’m glad the wait is over now.

Leepee80 · 01/11/2023 20:12

Hi how long did you wait please

Morty1 · 02/11/2023 08:40

Mamof31 · 16/11/2023 20:45

Hiya I applied for dla for my son in September but I’ve not received a letter or text to say they’d received my claim. Do you always get confirmation. Im
worried they never received the form, I have tried calling them but it’s just im queue for hours every time I call.
