Anyone else have this worry?

I'm nervous about using a playgroup for wrap around care, my dc is starting school in September.

Just have this fear he will run off/get lost during or after the school pick up and no one will notice.
I know it's irrational but for some reason this has been on my mind.

We usually drop him off and pick him up directly from his current nursery, but obviously with the playgroup they will be doing it and walking him to the centre.

Any tips or advice on how to deal with this anxiety lol?

It's not obvious!

Talk to them. Ask them to explain what measures they have in place to check that they don't lose children. Safeguarding is absolutely at the heart of what they do and they should be very happy to explain their procedures. Also check the history of their Ofsted reports to see if they have any safeguarding lapses in their history, and if they do (hopefully not!), go back to them and ask what's changed to make sure it's not going to happen again.

Generally I think children are far safer with professionals who are trained than eg dropped off at parties, with adults who are not used to managing numbers and doing headcounts.

It’s important you feel safe leaving your child with whoever is caring for them. Have they given you reason to doubt them? I would expect registers, head counts and a person walking at the back of the group making sure no one gets left behind.
