Child tracking device. Is my child’s mum tracking me by stealth?

Hi all. I co-parent my daughter and she’s with me every weekend. We recently bought a trackable smartwatch- mainly for school walks home to her mums in the week. My dd’s mum insists she wears it at weekends when she is with me. I refuse to force her to wear it when she’s with me and we’re doing things together as I hate the idea that my movements with my dd are being watched and scrutinised by her over-zealous mother. Am I actually being irresponsible or within my rights to refuse?

You are within your rights to refuse.

Yes, it's fine to say no. She doesn't need to track her for safety reasons when she's with you. It would only be for nosiness reasons.

Well within your rights.

My dds have trackers on their phones, they don't take their phones out with them when they're at their dad's and I'm sure it's so I can't see where they are. In reality, I'm not interested anyway and don't look, but he's a paranoid nutter!

Does she wear it at her mums, works both ways if she does!

Can you track her during the week?

MrsTerryPratchett · 18/06/2023 20:51

If she's old enough to walk to school alone, I assume she's old enough to decide what to wear. Does she want to?

I could if I set up the app on my phone but I have no need so I haven’t. It’s useful if we’re visiting a theme park or similar but for general hanging out with dad at weekends then I’m telling her she doesn’t have to wear it.
