Childminder

Me and my husband have been looking for childcare in Willesden Green the last couple of weeks. And could not believe the kind of childminders we have met. Some of them should not have jobs. Drug use when looking after someone else children is something that should not be allowed to happen.

Report them then.

Mary1971 · 13/03/2023 08:56

Already have.

What kind of drug use? I find it hard to believe that you met childminders who were openly using drugs.

Mary1971 · 13/03/2023 12:43

Cocaine use and never openly used it. Was in a pub Sunday and see her with her family in and out of there face it was disgusting to see at least in a nursery they can be tested and I no what there doing when not working is not anyone's business there should still be rules.

So if they haven’t openly used it how do you know? Could they have just been drunk?

Nurseries don’t do random drugs testing, it’s rare that a workplace does.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 13/03/2023 13:08

How many have you viewed and how many use drugs that you know of?

I'm not aware of any nurseries drug testing their staff.

So she wasn't using cocaine looking after children then?

In the ideal world no one would drink smoke or do drugs

But what she , you and anyone else else does in their own time is up to them

As long as doesn't impact on their working capability

Yes drugs are illegal - did you mention it to the landlord as well as ofsted

jannier · 13/03/2023 19:59

How do you know she's taken cocaine? Being loud on a night out doesn't mean drugs.
Nursery do not drugs test their staff

hoophoophooray · 13/03/2023 20:01

Nurseries do not drugs test their staff. I have worked in several places that do, either because the roles are safety critical or when I was police staff for a while.

Random nurseries do not.

Alittlemore · 13/03/2023 20:10

It’s likely you have seen a childminder a little drunk whilst out celebrating. As long as she wasn’t working at the time there’s no issue there 🤷🏼‍♀️

There is a very recent thread on another social media board I follow where a nursery worker has been reported by a friend of a friend's friend because of alleged drug use at the weekend. The discussion is around whether the nursery is justified in using random drug tests. That post is from an anonymous user, too.

What a coincident! All these Early Years drug users suddenly spotted by members of the public, spending their free time stoned out of their brains!

I'm surprised we can afford it!
