I am sure this post has been written before but here goes. This is my first year of working every day albeit 8-2 and I work 5 minutes away. Both myself and DH have time off in the school summer hols but there are weeks/days we are not always going to be able to cover throughout the year. Our DS is 13, mature and sensible but we have no family nearby. MIL is one hour away and friends are scattered all over. DS is usually gaming most of the school hols but I'm feeling terrible as his mum to have to leave him. Although I have to say he doesn't seem to worried at the prospect of this 🙄

I think that's fine. He's unlikely to get up that early anyway. He'll probably get up at 10, have some breakfast, game for a couple of hours and then you can take him somewhere when you get back.

I think it’s ok, sounds like you are home by 2.15! Tell him to prepare lunch for you both every day. He will like have a lie in and only notice he is alone for about 4 hours anyway
