How much to pay a friend babysitting?

My friend is babysitting my 1yr in a few weeks time. It’ll be from 6pm to 10/11pm ish so the majority of the time baby will be asleep. She does a lot of paid babysit work but I have no idea what her rate is. I know she will say she doesn’t want anything but I want to pay her. How much do you think is reasonable? I’ve never used a babysitter before.

Is it a one off or regular?

If it’s a friend I would provide drinks, takeaway, and cab home. I think it would be awkward to pay a friend for something like this, I wouldn’t accept payment from a friend for this.

When I baby sit for my friend I do it because I'm her friend. Give me some crisps, something nice to drink and access to her Netflix and I'm happy.

This is a great idea.

I would be over the moon with this.

As pp, even if I did charge/do other babysitting I would charge a friend.

Wouldn't

Do you help her out? In my world we just help each other out with what we can, when we can. No one's paying or keeping score.

but if you don't feel it's pretty much give & take, I'd buy her a small gift instead. Flowers/wine/chocolate/voucher type gift, nothing too over the top.

I'd definitely leave drinks/snacks etc & wifi/Netflix codes etc.

Friends babysit my dd

They are all qualified nannies /mn as that's my profession but they refuse payment

I always offer

So I either buy them some flowers - nice M&S meal or return the flavour when they need a babysitter free of charge
