Long Story short.....
Am I allowed legally, to organise and run a mobile creche? (aa a one off)
I know I would need to adhere to correct ratios, and organise insurance, but am I actually allowed to do this?

Yes, I think that as long as it does not run for more than 5 days a year, it does not require registration. This 5 day limit may apply to the venue, so if the venue is ever used for any other creche, those days it is used may count towards the limit.

You would need to check with the insurer with regard to if they require that the provision is registered. Morton Michel Mobile Creche - Policy Summary does not mention registration, but their application form does have a box on the form for it, so if you are intending to use their insurance, call them for advice.

Creche National Standards - you would be advised to work to this set of standards.

Worth writing to Ofsted to ask, as then if they rely, you can keep that on file.

Yes, some registered childminders do this,eg for weddings etc.

As you say, contact Ofsted check your ratios. You'll need to get names & ages of children in advance of the day (so you don't have the problem of a couple of extra on the day or different children with development/health needs (eg epipens, that you may not have a trained person for). Consider how many adults you'll be left with to supervise the children if one or more are changing nappies/taking children to toilet/giving first aid or dealing with an emergency etc.

You'd probably need to do a risk assessment of the premises, considering safety and evacuation procedures. Location of toilets/nappy changing facilities, first aid supplies etc.

Google "mobile creche" you'll get the idea!

Good luck
