Moving childminders and tax free childcare

We are moving areas in a few months and will be changing childminders for our 17 month old son. The new childminder has asked for payment a month in advance so we'd be paying out for 2 lots of childcare in 1 month. How does that work for tax free childcare? I'm guessing we'd just have to pay out the full amount for the new one and still claim tax free childcare for the old childminder, then switch over? Or is there anyway to claim for both?!

Thanks!

You can pay two providers but you're still bound by the maximum contribution limit which is £500 every 3 months.

Very surprised that your current childminder accoet payment in arrears. She's obviously never been stung!

You can have 2 providers - I’ve done it before

Oh ok! Thanks both!

Yes I think current childminder is very trusting 🤣

Can you start "overpaying" current childminder now so you're clearing arrears and doing a bit upfront to lessen the bill when you move?
