Overnight Nanny Pay

Hello,

Our fantastic nanny has stayed over for three nights looking after our BB whilst we took our two older children on a short break. She is paid by salary for the days but wondered what the protocol was for paying for overnight stays?

Should have been discussed before tbh

hourly rate till 11/12 then sleepover fee till 7 and back to usual rate

I charge £80 10pm-7am and full rate before and after, but in my previous job both children slept through.

I pay £100/night

Absolutely should’ve been discussed first.

I charge per hour until 10pm then £65 until they wake up for the day then per hour

If you have a baby that wakes in the night she should be paid at least her normal hourly rate through the night.

If this is an older child who reliably sleeps then maybe just a sleepover fee.

Thanks for all the useful tips. In regards to the “should have been discussed first comments” we did, she wasn’t sure as had never done over nights in her previous many roles hence why we asked on here 😊

She should be paid at least her hourly rate all through the night and probably extra for working overtime/ anti-social hours. She is responsible for safety and care. It's irrelevant if the child is usually asleep. Anything could happen.

No proper sleep, not in own home and comfort, unable to do her own things.. I'd be expecting premium rate.

At least her hourly rate overnight.
