My 16-month old baby boy started having a dry cough at night in the middle of sleep which has been nearly a week now.
He doesn't have a cold and is completely fine with no coughing at all during the day, playing and eating well, but once I put him to bed in the evening, he sleeps for a few hours and then when he starts stirring a bit, he then starts coughing. Last night he kept coughing like every 30 sec - a few mins, and that lasted for about an hour!! I was surprised that it didn't upset him waking him up completely as he eventually went back to sleep on his own.
I don't know what this night time dry cough is about and what causes it! I'm going to ring GP tomorrow asking for advice but just wonder if anyone else here has/ has had the same/similar experience..
My husband and I at first thought it might be to do with his teething with extra saliva down his throat causing him to cough, but then while he coughs, he keeps changing his sleeping position so I hope it should settle soon but it takes quite a while until he gets back to sleep and I'm very worried about this as this certainly wouldn't help him to have a good night sleep! :(
