Babysitters

Our nursery key worker has a fantastic bond with our toddler and as a couple we have nobody we can really ask to babysit. We have my mum, but she does a lot for us anyway and gets tired as she's older so I don't want to ask more from her.

Anyway I spoke to our keyworker and she said there's nothing in their contracts at nursery saying they can't babysit and that they openly do it for other families, she'd be really happy to do it for us too so I'm really happy!

I just don't know about the pay area so wanted to ask much do people pay babysitters?

Ahh okay that's not bad! I'll speak to her and see if that aligns of course. I'm worried about offending by saying a completely wrong amount 🥲 xxx

I'm a childminder and when first starting out would occasionally babysit and that's what I charged.
It's great you can have your child's key worker babysit...means you can completely relax and enjoy your night out xxx

@yougotthelook honestly I'm over the moon. I was worried about starting out finding someone and DD liking them and us trusting them in our home etc so this really does take away any issue there. Great to know this is how you progressed successfully too! Did you charge differently for evening sits? Xxx

£10 an hour was for evening baby sitting!
Bloody hell I wish I could charge that in the day 😂
But in the day I have 3/4 children, in the evening I would only look after one child, I only did it a few times until I established my business properly, but I would guess the nursery worker is younger, so I would think £10 an hour is perfectly acceptable x

I would ask her what she wanted. I'd not want to offend her. £10 is about minimum wage.

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/09/2022 11:58

Ask her

if working in nursery she is prob on nmw

£12ph is about average where I am
