Tell me how government grant (15hr) works on lunch time in nursery

Do the 15 hours cover lunch hours at all or not? I thought it covers but need to pay a few pounds extra for the food only. But maybe I'm wrong?

You will need to check with your nursery as different nurseries = different rules. But my DC's didn't. The money from lunch time helped the nursery cover costs which the government subsidy certainly did not.

No, I think they can charge for extras like lunch and snacks. What hours would your dc be doing?

This probably explains it. The fee seems to still include those whole lunch hours even when it's a very short week of two days due to nursery closure, which the 15 hours could have covered all hours.

Thanks.

It usually covers five three hour sessions, so a full day is counted as two sessions and you would pay for the hours childcare in between over lunch time.

I see. That's much clearer now. But funny that I didn't see this mentioned anywhere officially. Thanks!

Officially they don't tell you a lot about this funding. It's not for 52 weeks either.

The amount the schools get isn't enough to cover their overheads sometimes. They rely on fee paying parents and extras like paying for food / nappies etc.

Some nurseries will also have rules about how many hours you can use in a day too.
