No childminder vacancies for school pick ups. What are my options?

Could anyone offer some advice please? Our childminder is moving away and there are no others in the area who have vacancies.
How could I go about finding someone to collect my kids and maybe have them at home in our house until we're back from work? Thank you

You could advertise on a local facebook group.

Use childcare.co.uk to find someone who is themselves advertising their services.

You could organise a reciprocal arrangement with another parent at the school if you don't need everyday. ie your kids go to their house on wed and thurs and you have theirs on monday and tues. Could be hard to find but perhaps someone who is also using your current childminder.

You could petition the school to have an after school club.

Where are live there are a couple of after school clubs that collect the children and take them to a scout hut/village hall.

Thank you so much for replying. I have asked the school but for now they're saying there isn't enough demand.... A reciprocal arrangement could be an option, thank you for that idea. I'm a bit wary of advertising on Facebook as not sure who would respond! But it's definitely something to consider. Thank you. :)

Koru kids would help you out with that sort of childcare

Use the Ofsted website to search - put in your postcode and it will show nearby ofsted registered options. Scroll by the schools and look out private nurseries (which sometimes do wraparound for older kids), plus any additional childcare schemes.

Aren't they just London based?

Are long days and short days at work possible in your job? It doesn't solve the problem entirely but can make it a bit easier

Dinoteeth · 15/06/2022 22:05

I use an afterschool club who collect from various schools, it's worth getting in touch with any nearby afterschools and find out if they will collect from your school. There's also a nursery who pick up from my kids school too

Koru kids not just london based, branched out into other areas too.
