Trying to work out if going to Legoland is going to be a nightmare or not!! We are in Surrey…so many other schools also have an inset day then?

Mine do (Wiltshire)

wonkylegs · 04/06/2022 09:59

Yes for one, no for the other
Unfortunately it's the 6yo that is off rather than the teenager so will need to be occupied whilst I try to work.
He has a new found love for word-searches so perhaps that will work for a bit.

We do (se London borough).

Mine, both primary and secondary (Wales)

Thanks everyone, I think that’s a solid no to Legoland in that case! We went to chessington on an inset day earlier this year and i said never ever again. Ended up buying fast track tickets in desperation after not being able to get on any of the rides and still had to queue for 1.5 hours for the vampire ride for the 6 year old even with the FT ticket. No way I’m repeating that esp with his younger siblings age 4 and 3 in tow. Looks like we’ll be taking him out of school for it for his bday instead given how expensive it is I’m not prepared to pay all that money to stand in a queue all day. It’s a shame they don’t limit numbers more

We don't have INSET but it's the extra bank holiday so school is closed and school staff get a day off, too.

Where's that? I'd love to have an extra bank holiday.

Ours have a 2 week half term AND an inset day, 15 days off seems a bit much.

BiscoffSundae · 04/06/2022 12:45

Yes we do (London), didn’t realise so many others did too was hoping to take mine somewhere thinking it would be quiet 🤣

It's the extra bank holiday the UK has had for the Jubilee. It falls in half-term here so the DfE said state schools could choose to put their extra day off anywhere in the school calendar. Ours happens to be on Monday.

Crazycatlady83 · 04/06/2022 19:15

Lol - we are going to Legoland on Monday, was hoping for a quiet day! Seems not!!

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/06/2022 08:37

We did originally in school term dates but then coz of the jubilee they took it away but then dd has a day off either late June or early July on a Friday

Lots do, thats why exams aren’t scheduled for the Monday.

Not sure where you got this from but there are definitely exams scheduled for Monday 6th.

Janek · 05/06/2022 09:09

Correct. German writing is tomorrow!

Dilbertian · 05/06/2022 11:24

Some schools in our Berkshire MAT do and some don't.

I used to take my dc to Legoland when they had an inset. Insets attached to main holidays were as heaving as the holidays themselves, insets attached to half terms were less busy, but insets attached to random term-time weekends were virtually empty.

Morph22010 · 05/06/2022 11:27

I think it often ends up being worse as so many people people go thinking it will be quieter, we’ve found it’s quieter on the actual bank holidays as people don’t go thinking up it will be busy and only the top level of merlin passes can be used on bank holidays so not as many pass holders

One dc does, one doesn’t - Kirklees, mikes away from LL
