Nanny share advice

Hello, looking for people who have nanny share experience. A local family in our area who we know through a local network proposed a nanny share arrangements. We've got a 10 months old and a 6 year old boys and the other family is first time parents with 11,5 months old boy. The other mum is going back to work in July and is looking for 5 days a week 8-6:30 nanny. I'm already back to work but my mum was looking after the kids temporarily and I was thinking about a nursery option. I need 9-7 childcare. I'm just wondering who had a similar experience? Do we pay more because the nanny has to pick up my eldest from school (albeit at 6 as he goes to an after school club)? How does it work with the morning pick up and drop off if a childcare happens at another family's house 2 days a week? A nanny share is considerably more expensive than nursery but if I still have to do my own drop off and pick up I'm not sure that it's worth it. Would appreciate any constructive input.

In my experience it rarely works. There will be conflicts about who needs what from the nanny and there is a high likelihood of a falling out between the mothers who share the nanny.

No, but I know two women who have and in both cases it all went tits-up.

Just to give another perspective, I am a nanny and tend to have fallen in to doing mostly nanny shares. Over the last 7 years I've done a combination of about 10 nanny shares and they have all always gone really smoothly. Sometimes the parents already know each other, other times they don't. In some cases, the parents have gone on to be very good friends. I've only had one that really didn't work out but the parents are still friendly, it just didn't work out for me because one of the mum's was really quite mean to me. I left when it was suitable to.

Do you know what each family is required to pay? If it is 2 children, one from each family, would it just be half the nanny's hourly rate or do you have to pay more?

Why 2 days a week? Are you working on the basis of half the week at yours / half the week at the other parents'. That doesn't work for babies as it means carting all their stuff to and fro.
Our nanny-share was divided so that care was always at the other house. That meant that they had the extra living costs (heating bills etc) but I paid for double equipment (eg high chair at home and at other place).
You seem to be expecting a lot of hours from the nanny! Can you not cover something between the four parents staggering early and late work starts and finishes.
What will happen with the 6 y.o. during school holidays?

Some nannies reckon they should get minimum wage from each family but my payroll company have never confirmed this and I can't find anything concrete online, only from America.
Typically a nanny will get more in a nanny share though but it will be cheaper for the parents than having a nanny on their own.

I've always split my nanny shares between the houses. There isn't any carting because all each family need is a spare high chair (cheap from ikea) and a travel cot. All of my families already had a travel cot. It's nice to vary it by splitting houses up.
