Looking for stories of domestic bliss or not so much with Nannies, housekeepers, cleaners, dog walkers or anything in between!

I've been asked to do some strange things in my 30 years as a Nanny and wondered what you think is reasonable or unreasonable to ask of your hired help?

Oooh who are you writing for?

I simply can’t get the staff, darling. It’s a nightmare.

Tell me you’re a journo without actually telling me you’re a journo…

No just a nanny.... hearing many horror stories but also some amazing stories too. One family in particular paid for their nannies IVF....

Just be nice to hear what is going on out there

I am a Nanny..
My worst experience was working for an alcoholic. She was married to a HNW man.
They seemed rather out of love with each other.
Her children were quite challenging..
She used to sink a bottle every night.
One Monday morning she was so wasted, she couldn't speak properly.
She tried to say Good Morning and just slurred so badly. She had a terrible temper and was always screaming and shouting at her husband/children.
If you saw her at school then you would think she was a nice person.
I had to deal with her toxic personality for about 8 months then I left..
She would put things in the wash basket and then scream because she couldn't find them in her drawer the next morning.
Very long days were the norm with almost no breaks.
Everything had to turned around really quickly.
I explained we can't manage to wash things so fast..
I felt sorry for her husband and 3 kids.

Goodness that is heartbreaking,
Glad they had you at least. This is what makes our job so hard, we feel like we need to protect the children but know we can only do so much and they are not ours.

Thank you for Sharing x

How about your stories @TheNannylondon ?
Care to share?

ProseccoStorm · 12/04/2022 18:13

I'll bite but it won't make anything interesting for your story.

We have nannies. The worst was always ill, unwell again and again and again, but well enough to enjoy her weekend. And she was on full pay as I'm an idiot. Nearly broke me as I work full time

There you have it, my worst story.

Be careful if you share a story that you wouldn't want shared with an even wider audience.
