Hi,

I do hope this is the right discussion group to help with my question ;)

Does anyone know of any services or is even possible to hire someone for 3-4hrs a day to help with the house (cleaning, ironing etc) as well as do school pickup and sit with the kids for an hour?

Many thanks x

This has been asked on here a few times and the general consensus is that you won't get anyone to do that on a live out basis. Your peers will either be working themselves or doing that exact thing for their own families and older or younger people want a job for more hours.

How about an au pair?

Have a look on childcare.com

I was under the impression Au Pair's only looked after the kids and didn't do any housework....

I will take a look at childcare.com but I guess it could be worth reaching out to a few and asking them...

Thanks ladies

Au Pairs do a lot of housework, your job description is exactly what my Au Pairs always did.

I know of someone who is a very fit retired early sixties lady that does this for a young family. Loves her p/t hours. Obviously, I do not know the finer details of her employment terms but is it something that could work for you?

Au pairs definately clean the childrens rooms and do the childrens laundry.

You could hire a nanny, as a full time nanny this is what I do myself, I go and help out with childcare, transports to clubs, providing extra curricular activities, school pick ups, housework/ light cleaning , cooking, bathtime etc. it’s basically a mothers help.
Hope this helps x

Problem is a good professional nanny wants to look after kids not clean

Or she would be a cleaner

It’s hard to find someone who is happy to do both

No after school clubs or cm about who do school pick ups

And then a cleaner who is happy to iron

Or get an ironing lady as well

thesandwich · 25/02/2022 13:15

Maybe worth asking on local fb group/ next door? Might suit someone with older children

RandomQuest · 25/02/2022 13:22

I’d probably split it into 2 jobs. An au pair to do anything to do with the kids including kids laundry and bedroom tidying, then a cleaner who comes for a few hours twice a week to clean the house and do the ironing. I know loads of people with this sort of set up.
