Teacher - How long do I need to return to work for?

Have made the decision to return to work which I now regret after deciding not to have any more children.

Have left it too late now to hand in my notice as I’m due back next month.

The new plan is return to work for the minimum amount of time so we don’t have to pay back additional maternity pay and also to give the school enough notice in line with my contract. Return in March and leave end of summer holidays. Nice and simple for everyone involved however…

I believed this to be the total of 13 weeks. Because I only worked part time (0.4) before leaving on MAT LEAVE so I felt that would cover the amount of OMP received. But all information online says I need to return to the equivalent of 13 weeks full time!! Does this only apply to people that were paid full time OMP?

Anyone got any clarity on this please?

Do I need to return to the equivalent of full time 13 weeks?

Will the 13 weeks part time cover it?

Thanks

My union would be my first port of call.

Ask your union or the HR department at your school

I suspect it will be 13 weeks on your usual rota, simply as it's unlawful to treat part-time workers less favourably.
