One day a week Nanny job

I have always been clear than I require 2 days minimum for nanny jobs.

On the basis I don’t want more than two employers to juggle, holidays matching up and most importantly the time I would have to spend with the children.

But I am struggling to get work. The 30 free hours childcare here in Scotland has definitely had an impact along with covid/working from home

I have been offered a one day a week job which will be amazing experience and long term and the family are lovely.

I’m just looking for experiences from those of you who work or have worked for a family once a week. Did it work out ok?

Thanks

Hi, Not as a nanny but as a childminder. I stopped offering 1 day a week spaces as I found it a nightmare for children to settle. My one day a week families were always the ones that took the mick, paying late, sending in kids ill and to be honest with the amount of paperwork I had too was not worth it for the pay I received.

I've been with a family one day per week for 4 years now. It's working fine for us. Initially it was one new-born baby and now there is a second child... so I care for a 4yr old and 1yr old.

Finding other work to fit around it is problematic, but that might be due to me having my one day job on a Tuesday. Just seems popular for people to want that day when they have a 2, or 3 day job on offer, so I struggle to find parents who want a nanny 2 days per week not to include a Tuesday.

Yes I do, and love it! Gives variety to the week too.

That’s reassuring that it’s worked ok for others
Thanks for the replies
