I am moving to be live in the same place as family and sil has said once my child starts school she would be happy to have him before and after school (he will hopefully get into the same school as her kids this september). I pay her at the moment to look after him one day a week (he goes to nursery for 3 days and another relative for another day) I work partly from home and partly in London. Some days I could do the school drop off or pick ups dependent on diary but what would be a fair amount to pay her for the days she does? What do you all pay?

The timings would be 7am to her and she would drop off school at around 8.45) after school 3.15 pick up by her until 5 on home work days or 6.30 on commuting days.

How much do you pay her per hour now? That would seem like a good guide to what to pay in future.

Coffeesnob11 · 19/01/2022 14:03

I pay a percentage of my nursery day fee so there isn't really an hourly rate.

What percentage of your nursery day fee? Round here after school club and breakfast club cost 20 quid a day. Id offer that and if it all goes pear shaped use the clubs.

£4.50 for breakfast club and £11.50 for after school club here (midlands)

MaizeAmaze · 19/01/2022 14:20

I can do school breakfast club from 8 am for £3. Or childminder from 7.30 for £7.50. She was the only one who would start that early.
Not looked at after school prices.

There are no school breakfast or after school care as its a small school. It would work out as 3.5 or 4.4 hours a day in total maximum.

That would cost £18 for out wraparound club. S Yorks.

MadeForThis · 19/01/2022 14:46

About half what you pay her for a full day.

DistrictCommissioner · 19/01/2022 14:49

I pay £9 for 1 child for after school club till 5.30.

roadrunnerrocks · 19/01/2022 14:53

£6 for breakfast club here and £4 for every 30 mins in after school club.

PenelopePitstop79 · 19/01/2022 15:05

£1 breakfast and £15 after school club.

Bear in mind it might work out cheaper for you to organise a commercial arrangement. You could be entitled to help with a commercial arrangement.

We pay £4.25 per hour per child for wraparound care. First 20 mins after school is effectively free.

Don't forget if you use registered care you can get at least 20% off through tax free childcare. Also she won't be paying any insurance registration or training and possibly no tax.
