I don't mind childcare being grouped together, but I do think the title should be changed as people don't seem to realise it refers to paid childcare, not general parenting.

Marylou62 · 14/01/2022 13:54

That's sort of what I mean.. I open threads and not related to nany/childminders...

Agree, often having to wade through weaning, sleeping, grandparent threads is a tad frustrating.

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/01/2022 14:42

Me too

Nannies aren’t the same as nursery or cm or even au pairs

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 14/01/2022 14:43

I'm a childminder just to clarify. Was just empathising with the Op.

Landof · 14/01/2022 18:40

I agree. I remember when they asked for people's opinions and it was heavily voted not to merge the topics but they did anyway. I liked having that separate space

Marylou62 · 15/01/2022 08:46

Sorry about the spelling mistake above.. I was on the school run and typing with one hand whilst walking the dog!

Also.. I don't think people are asking advice/venting on here as much as maybe they can't find the 'Nanny' section?

I joined MN because my XMB used to be a moderator and suggested this site..(Think that's what she said but it was waaay before I got the gist of this site and even knew what a 'mod' was). Good job I never had to vent about them! Almost perfect family to work for..and a new baby to cuddle and dress!

But I loved MN Nanny page and it was always my first read..Why did they feel they had to merge it? I dont remember reading about why..
I miss it..Please reinstate it. Please.
Maybe we can start a petition?

100% agree. Nearly every thread I open is not related to childcare anymore. When people post about covid in AIBU it gets moved to covid section. The same should happen in here too I think!

nannynick · 15/01/2022 16:35

MNHQ will hopefully look at renaming the board. Another post today which is nothing to do with paid childcare.

What was it called a decade ago... Childminders, Nannies and Aupairs?
Something like that.

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/01/2022 17:35

Think was childcare @nannynick but then had separate pages fir nannies , au pairs cm etc

katepilar · 15/01/2022 18:09

I miss that too.

Landof · 15/01/2022 22:34

I think nanny nick is right I think that as the original name and then I'm sure it changed to childcare with sub categories of nannies, childminder, etc... they even had nanny share category which was fab.
I miss it. 😢

ClaraThree · 16/01/2022 13:12

I agree

Maryann1975 · 16/01/2022 19:22

I’m a cm and I’ve been thinking the same thing over the past few weeks. There are more and more parents asking for parenting advice rather than advice about childcare provision. I could cope with one board for cms, nannies and au pairs (I used to be a nanny, so felt I was able to offer advice there if relevant) but what if we have now isn’t really working for anyone I don’t think.

spaghettiyeti · 17/01/2022 06:41

@MNHQ Could you please consider reintroducing a 'PAID CHILDCARE' section at all?

For professional childcarers, this most recent blending really is most unhelpful.

Thankyou Daffodil

nannynick · 17/01/2022 19:50

In 2005 it was:

Category: Childcare and Work
Childminders, nannies, au pairs etc
Employment issues
Going back to work
Nurseries

At some point before April 2014 it changed to

Category: Childcare
Childminders, nannies, au pairs etc
Nanny shares
Nurseries

Marylou62 · 18/01/2022 08:20

MNHQ.. I 2nd asking for a PAID CHILDCARE section. Please

OP posts:
ttcstinks · 18/01/2022 08:23

I don't have children but if I did I would want a paid childcare section too! Sounds like an important thing to me - I 3rd it!

Marylou62 · 19/01/2022 18:55

Thanks Georgie

yes probably because of the bad reviews of some of the agencies.

Please ALL Nannies, do not work for agencies that are racist and discriminate against BRITISH NANNIES, ESP who have other offices in Europe who have stopped using British nannies, ie rock my baby, Kinderstaff etc.

it is unacceptable and nothing to do with Brexist and downright RACISM.
