I am due to become an employed nanny in February, what is your nanny's routine? What does she do when she needs to use the toilet?

Nanny here 👋 I think the routine will definitely depend on the child's age/s, their existing routine and the parent's parenting style. Some parents will want you to follow a very strict schedule for feeding, naps, activities etc. Some parents want specific activities, outings, playgroups etc. planned every day, whilst others will be okay with following whatever the child wants.

Toilet time again depends on the child/ children's ages. If a smaller baby, I would wait until they're sleeping if possible, or if absolutely urgent I might take them with me. If older children, I would just tell them I'm going to the bathroom, be back in a minute.

I've been a nanny for around 9 years now. It varies from family to family massively. My current families are all super chilled and their view is happy children/ happy parents. They are quite laid back in their approach and I basically plan our entire weeks. I suppose a typical day may be breakfast 8- 8:30, they play while I get buggy ready, pop out to a playgroup/ class/ soft play/ farm / walk/ park etc.. 9-12ish then home for lunch and nap time between 12:30/1 for around 1.5 - 2 hours. Snack around 3, then maybe a walk/ pop to local shop for bread / milk / other essentials and then dinner at 5ish , Bath at 6 and bed at 7.

This is based on 1 nap a day.

I also do play at home too, messy play, we basically just go with the flow. There's only usually 1 group a week that we do nearly every week. I like to vary things and follow the child's interest.

I also do the children's laundry sometimes and will clean up areas after use and I'll full/ empty the dishwasher. But we have no routine with that at all. It's very much a everyone pitch in and I'm never expected to do laundry, but if the basket is full enough for a load then I'll always put it on.
