My son is a member of an out of school group and they organised a trip out to the theatre for them which we paid for. When I picked son up he was desperate for toilet and had to go immediately behind a tree. I asked him why hadn't he been at the venue they spent 3-4 hours at had a toilet. He said the leader did not allow any opportunity for kids to use toilet! They had to sit in seats all the time. Surely a leader would ask the young kids if any needed to use the toilet? Either before performance, at the interval or afterwards? Isn't that just basic care looking after someone's kids?

Of course that's basic needs but I would speak to the leader and ask what happened to get the full story

I'd speak to them first. There's every chance they asked them at those points and your son didn't hear / was busy eating snacks etc...

Did he ask to go to the toilet?

I we talking about a 3 year old or a 10 year old here?

ask them first
the trouble is that you ask one if they need a wee and they either all want one or the minute you come back another one decides they need to go
gets disruptive
