Is there much demand for emergency/temp live-in nannies?

I am a nanny with over 10 years experience and after the lockdowns was made redundant. I decided to use the time since then to gain a few extra qualifications and have a bit of a break. I'm good at hitting the ground running and winning most children round quickly. I'm very flexible, and happy to muck in around the house.

I'm considering doing some temping over the next twelve months. I occasionally see temporary jobs advertised, but I wonder how much call there is for this type of thing year round, up and down the country? I don't like to drive children, so I know that goes against me.

I'd say there wound be a need for this? Is there an agency you can register with?

Would you do night nannying I. E. Newborns?

Sadly no agencies (that I’ve found) which specialise in temporary placements. I tend to use the five or so that I’m already registered with to find me work which tends to be a bit all over the place.

I like newborns, but don’t have a great deal of experience with them. I always assumed night nannies were newborn specialists.

I wonder if it’s worth making a bit of a brand out of yourself. Set up a blog and a Facebook/Instagram page and fill it with interesting content which showcases what a really fun, knowledgable nanny you are. You could advertise it on FB/Insta and then promote yourself that way to gain work.

Not live in,but there are companies in London that specialise in emergency nannies. My employer offers it as a benefit via the My Family Care platform

I was about to say what Squee did - there is deffo call for emergency nannies in London as quite a few people get it as a corporate benefit.

Not driving wouldn't matter in London, but I suspect most of them would be live-out jobs. Companies pay for it so their employees don't miss work when they've had a childcare snafu, rather than needing stuff overnight.
