Birth to Three

Hi,
Was wondering if anyone can give me any ideas on how to implement birth to three.

How do you do it ?
ie:- observations etc
Do any childminders do this as i've asked at my local group and none of them seem to do written observations etc.

Any ideas on how to plan, observe etc would be appreicated.

Thankyou

Katy I would cry, but I am sick of the amount of paperwork I have around the house without the added extra photo albums!

i've done the EYFS initial training and it does look good.

The problem i have is that i am fairly new to childminding so am just trying to get my head around how to implement the birth to three, and find it very daunting that i'm going to spend the rest of the year perfecting it, only to have to change in sep 08. .

i think i'm confusing the planning for under 3's with planning for over 3's.

i was trying to come up with a planning, observation , next steps etc system, and was using themes, only to be told that you're not supposed to use themes with birth to three and in fact you're not supposed to plan at all.

i'm so bamboozled

i've completed my birth to three and am currently doing my NVQ 3 . my assesors due this week and i've got nothing of any use in place.

I lose my memory often so I'd be no use with a memory stick hahahaha!

I don't keep any photos of minded children or my own on the pc, I take them with only their hands showing doing the activity (as suggested by OFSTED inspector on last visit) which is safe and you cannot see their faces.

I have permission from parents to take photos but on the pc you never know who can access them.

this photo thing is tooooooo pc for me
i have 4 photo ablums of the children which the children themselves like to look through it also reminds me of past mindees and past projects i have done
i hate ofsted photos of hands only!!! whatever next??????????

Thanks shosh! I do have the occaisional brainwave!

I hate planning but the new eyfs cd rom is really good - lots of ideas for each age group, the kind of experiences they should be getting and basic development in each age range.

I take photos, keep art/drawings they have done and make quick observations.

i'm doing eyfs training in jan

but at the moment i don't do any observations/scrapbooks/photos

will i get in trouble with ofsted at my next inspection? i'm not due one for 2yrs

fruitloop79 · 19/11/2007 22:27

Don't panic Maxim, I haven't done anything either. Not got my inspection for a couple years. I'm also starting in Jan. We're not obliged to do anything until next Sept when EYFS become legal.
