CM Club - Another BUG question.......

I've never had it where a bug has gone round my setting in 2 and half years of childminding. Luckily when mindees have stayed off or I have closed (if ds), no-one else has ended up getting it.

Some of you will know about the 2 sisters having a sick bug. Baby hasn't been here all week as was sick before MOnday (and last I saw her was Wed last week). Her 2 yr old sister still came and last night was sent hom as woke up at 5pm and started being sick everywhere (wouldn't be sick in bowl!). She was gone half hour after she started being sick and of course isn't here today so not due back til Monday. Everything was disinfected straight away and other children were kept away from mindee and where she was sick.

So, my question is......will the other children definitely end up with it or are some kids lucky and not catch everything? (ds hardly ever sick) My pre-school mindee is here every day of the week so IF she's going to get it, will have already been exposed. What I'm worried about is baby tomorrow. We saw her briefly at toddler group on Monday and she's supposed to be here tomorrow and Friday. Is it ok for her to come? (obviously if anyone in my family is sick, I will close).

Also, ds is fine, ate all his breakfast, acting normal etc. Was I right to send him to nursery this morning or should I have kept him off JUST IN CASE? (I never thought about it til I got home)

I'm new to all this!

TIA

WEll!!!! my DS 10 is still off with a bug from a child who was only here two hours last wed night, after i got it then DH then DS have semi planned cover all week for other kids as guess my DS will get it next, Its pants and Im not earning! fortunately my DS came down with it at 815 yesterday so one under 5 mum was here(so sent them away) and just took other mindee and my daughter to school, my mum was here so left her on sick duty. so had he gone to school he would have been sick everywhere ut DS been fine at the mo so have sent her, had I have kept them of monday when DH was recovering htey would have both missed loads of school , not just DS 2days. So I would send him up to the point he starts to complain about any symptoms, it may mean you feel awful if he is ill but what if he last to get it and he not ill for over a week, Too much missed school then in my opinion.

Well I had monday off although noone was actually sick as only had two due that day, one 3 yr old who can do any days, and my new ( been here 2 weeks) 18 month old. I did not want here to come just incase and as DH had had it sun told mum 24 on contract for my family should be stuck to just in case. She was sort of ok, but think she appreciated it on tue morning when DS had runs when she arrived! at least she knew it genuine. Will work for any who want to come thur and fri but only if DS still ok ALL day, he had dinner last night and it stayed in, brek only been in half an hour so we will see. my 7 month old only here Fri so should be ok. I think if you can afford not to earn then should offer parents of little ones the choice. If you say you wont charge you do lose out but at least they can make their own sensible decision not based on money.

Thanks, I'll email mum and give her the choice (can't afford the drop in money as it's double pay baby x 2 days - ouch! plus dh finds out if he's being made redundant tomorrow and it's very likely he is!)

Fair enough, but at least they can make their own decision. Well here hoping against hope then that DH gets saved!

looneytune · 14/11/2007 11:01

Totally agree - I've emailed saying it's only fair I offer them the choice, I'd rather loose money and have happy parents than save money and have parents upset with me blabla We'll see what she says!

Yeah, hope dh gets saved too but from how the last 2 meetings went and comparing to what was said to others, sounds pretty much in the bag he will be going! This will be the FORTH time he's been made redundant!! Last time he was without a job, it took him 3 months to even get a temp job!! He's pretty sure they go for the younger people

Right, 10 mins and then I'm off to get ds. Thanks for your advice
