What do you do during school holidays?

So this may be a bit of a stupid question but what do you do with your children in terms of childcare during school holidays if you work full time?

My eldest is due to start school in September and his nursery is usually all year round so not been an issue until now. My husband and I both work full time and have no family nearby.

We will be able to take annual leave to cover some of the holidays but wouldn't get enough between us to cover all school holidays. Just wondering what other options people use that don't have family to help out?

We used a holiday childminder
Holiday clubs
Annual leave - staggered so DH would take a day and I would then take a different one
Friends on the odd occasion
Takes a lot of planning but it’s doable

Quite often nurseries will take key stage 1 children ( up to 7 years ) in the holidays

Grandparents and holiday clubs when we cannot take annual leave. We are very lucky that I get a lot of leave so we don't need more than the odd days.

We use a nursery that have an out of school club and just book around annual leave a few weeks in advance.

Thanks everyone. I didn't know there was such a thing as holiday clubs!

I will also check with nursery to see if he would be able to go back during holidays.

How are you covering wrap around care and training days?
Most childminders do this and will have other school age children. Do appropriate activities and go on outings....I do den building, pond dipping farm visits, animal handling sessions
