Parents who have found a nanny via an agency

I’ve had something bugging me for months. I’m currently job hunting I’ve been a nanny for around 12years now. I’ve posted on a few Facebook groups, aware that there is a lot of competition for jobs but considering my wealth of experience I’m not even being asked for an initial interview/chat. One thing I’ve put it down to is due to being a black nanny. Other black nannies have come forward agreeing there definitely is a problem within the nanny world. For those who use/used an agency with the nanny’s cv do you get their photo attached as well?

Hi, most agencies do send a picture. Is there anything on your CV that might give ppl doubts about interviewing? Eg short stints at several employers? I do think there are a lot of
Nannies looking at the mo. Good luck. Hope that helps.

Thanks the reply. No my cv is great on average I’ve stayed 3yrs and have only ever left my jobs due to the children starting nursery/school and it needing a full time nanny!

Have you asked the agencies if they send pics

I didn’t think they were allowed

Hope that’s not the reason you aren’t getting interviews 😥

I will say it’s an employers market at the moment

I’ve known 30 cvs be sent to jobs if family’s want to see all available

Does your experience maybe put people off? Maybe they think you’ll be more expensive? Might just be clutching at straws but only because I sincerely hope your suspicions aren’t correct

I’ve used a nanny agency three times and never had a photo. I would have been told the nanny’s name (full name) and so I suppose I could have googled against the name, but never have.

We’ve used a nanny agency twice and both times were sent references plus copies of passports etc with the CVs so photos were on there. I really hope you’re wrong about why you’re not being considered for jobs and that you find something soon. Flowers

I found a nanny via childcare.co.uk and the ads all had pictures on. The fact that you are black absolutely wouldn’t have made any difference to me, I was looking at experience levels. (I am mixed race myself although I don’t think this is relevant)

I really hope this isn’t the case. Fingers crossed you get something soon x

Thank you all for the replies. It’s definitely hard at the moment as nanny (like so many other job sectors) So many parents at home so there’s not the demand for nannies and so many nannies without jobs, so it’s all a bit of a mess at the moment. I do hope it picks up now slowly people will be going back to working out of the house. I only ever apply for jobs that reflect the experience I have working with newborns/babies, so the fact I’m not even getting an interest.

My sil is a nanny with 16/17 years experience and is struggling to get a job at the moment as she said not as many jobs around where we live at moment ? Are the agency placing many other nannies ?
