Tax free childcare AND childcare vouchers for two different kids?

Hi there,

I have a 3.5 year old, and a 11 month old, and we are just prepping for them to start a new nursery after a house move. For the 3.5 year old, my wife and I have been using Childcare Vouchers, which we have accrued a small amount this year due to nursery closures, and us moving in with the in-laws whilst we wait for our new build to be ready.

Now the 3.5 year old is eligible for 15 hours free childcare, we are wanting to understand if we can use the childcare vouchers (voucher scheme, not the tax free childcare scheme) that we have saved over the last few months on our youngest?

If so, how does it work?

And if not, what happens to the childcare vouchers we have saved up?

Thank you!

So you've saved up some childcare vouchers and want to use them for the younger child? And your older child will just receive the free 15 hours? Do you both work enough hours to be entitled to the free 15 hours?

If so I can't see any issues.

15 hours is universal to all 3 & 4 year olds so there’s no eligibility to meet there.

The only thing I’m not sure about is the vouchers have children’s names on them, I would check with the nursery if they’ll accept if the name doesn’t match the child attending as presumably you saved them for your eldest child?

Hi, I think you should just be able to contact the voucher provider and charge the name from eldest to youngest child.
