Montessori nursery or regular

Hello

I'm in process of choosing a nursery for my 2yr old.

I really like the Montessori nursery, very organised, clean and I like the method of education in general. It is 10min drive from us.

The regular nursery is 2min walk and seems ok like all other nurseries around, just standard with good Ofsted reports.

Which one to choose?
Please give me your opinion and experience you have.

Thank you

Yep if both look good I wouldn’t worry about whether it’s Montessori or not and just go for the one you can walk to! Ours is a 5 min walk away and I love the fact we can walk there.

I'd go for the one I could walk to, 100%

A good Montessori is not just buying the label as it is a very particular system for teaching children. It would seem though that not all nurseries calling themselves Montessori really are, or just have a few of their equipment without really understanding the thinking behind the methods. So perhaps you should read about it first, then visit the nursery. Check the qualifications of the staff to see if they have real Montessori qualifications too.

Sorry, I had not read your post carefully enough: you have already visited the nursery.

‘Teaching’ was a loosely used word on my part.

The Montessori method is gentle and led by the child’s interests.

@TooManyMiles
Not all montessori is child led it can be very regimented with things like child selects a puzzles takes to table must pull out chair sit down do puzzle stand up put chair under table return puzzle ....originally based on the rigid needs of asd children, some settings take her first work and dont look beyond it. Whilst others have a few token toys..
Op id go for what feels best for your child what is warm friendly and caring and has experiences that your little one will enjoy and feed his curiosity.

My mother was a bit of a hippie so I went to a Montessori nursery. Obviously I don’t remember much from that age, but I do remember being bored out of my fucking tree.
