My daughter is due to start school next September. I’m really excited for her, but also so sad about her leaving her childminder. She had been absolutely incredible, I honestly can’t say enough good things about her. My daughter has attended this childminders since she was 5 months old, so she has been a big part of our lives, and we will all miss her so much!

I want to think of a really lovely, special gift that we can give her when it’s time for my daughter to leave. Has anyone got any ideas?

Any suggestive from childminders of things you have received over the years?

I've had Thames riverboat dinner dance which was lovely and memorable. Pandora charms, spa days, all lovely. I always keep the homemade cards and thank you letters. What I dont need is photos ...have loads I take and just ask parents if I can keep one special memory one for me, but I can't have them out fir every child I've ever had so have an album. My biggest joy is families that keep in touch.

I've had a spa day and a trip up the shard along with some smaller gifts. A nicely written letter of reference is one of my favourite things.

A lovely card and a plant for the garden? One of my mindees gave me a beautiful rose and I think of her every time I look at it. Obviously only works if she has a garden.

I have had spa days, afternoon teas, jewellery. One of my favourite was a personalised gin glass with cartoon characters of me holding hands of the siblings I minded (used a lot 😊)
