30 free hours

Hi, I'm seeking advice on this subject as I'm confused.

My partner & I split up a while back but he works full time where as I don't work at the moment.
Our son has turned 3 and starts pre school in September. At the moment he's going to be using the 15 hours childcare but if my ex partner works full time is he able to claim the 30 free hours?? As he has parental responsibility as well as me. He doesn't live with us though.
I have seen on the Gov.co.uk website that if we're separated we need to decide who applies and HMRC will decide - is that right?

Sadly no you will only get the 15 hours as you are not working and seen as a single parent household, your ex working hours will not be taken into account as he does not live with you and the child does not live with his dad full time.
