I have just moved from Birmingham to Totnes with my 2.5 year old and am starting a new job tomorrow. Unfortunately my childcare has fallen through and I am now stuck with my ex-husband taking unpaid leave and living with me until I can make suitable arrangements.

Too many life-changing events all at once and I dont want my ds to suffer. In the short term, childminder or nursery 4 days a week would be manageable, but in the long term i am really looking for someone to live in as I do infrequent overnight on calls as part of my job.

Any suggestions would be would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!!

If it's any help at all for the short term I am in Ivybridge and registered for overnight care.

Have you looked on childcarelink?

2.5 is a bit young for an aupair (normal minimum is 3), but if you are interested, you can often get one within a week or two. www.aupair-world.net

I would suggest a live-in nanny. Try looking at www.nannyjob.co.uk and www.nannyselect.co.uk

A childminder who can also provide occasional overnight care (some childminders are registered for overnight care) may also be well worth looking at.

Call Gossey. She is lovely. (and, no, I don't get commission)
