Holiday clubs

I can't find any information as to whether holiday clubs will be allowed to operate over the Summer holidays. Has anyone heard from any local holiday clubs? Or are they still waiting for information from the government? Clinging onto this as one way I might get some childcare this year before I lose my job.

Hi, I’m parent Chair person of our after school/breakfast/holiday club. As far as I know, there is no indication that the club will be any holiday club this summer.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 09/06/2020 14:38

The national provider kings camp is taking bookings for the summer with a promise that if they can't run they will give a full refund. I've booked mine in for a week in august. I hope to god they run. I've saved all my leave otherwise to cover summer holidays. My kids are fed up being babysat by tech as I have to work from home.

Apple40 · 09/06/2020 15:56

Our local before and after school one is hoping to open for summer holidays is taking taking books and will refund if not allowed to open, not sure how it will work unless all kids self isolate for 2 weeks if been in school as it takes children from up 8 schools

lockdownstress · 19/06/2020 16:47

Our local one has just been given the go-ahead to run. I suspect they'll be full by tomorrow!

Appuskidu · 19/06/2020 16:48

Our local one has just confirmed it will not be running. With SD in place-even at 1m-they said it simply wouldn’t be cost effective for them.

HathorX · 19/06/2020 17:03

The one based in my DD's school says it intends to run, but hasn't confirmed it will. They did a survey and 85% of their mailing list said YES they would use this summer so it is economically viable. Hurrah.

Conversely, the private one my DD prefers which is staffed by uni students, has cancelled all its bookings and said it doesnt have time to organise opening safely, in absence of any indication from the government whether it is going to be allowed and what will be required, they have chosen to cancel. Huge pity.

Placesrobe7099292 · 19/06/2020 17:06

Ours is run at a private nursery and they’ve not reopened, zero correspondence from them either so I assume they won’t be opening.

rubyslippers · 19/06/2020 17:07

I usually use Barracudas - I had an email this week saying they won’t be running any camps this summer

Hello! I am going to sign my kids into Spanish camp. I am quite excited because they do 2 venues. So I can put both kids there . Little boy does football while little girl is doing arts and crafts drama sports and learning some Spanish !

Pregnantabroad · 03/06/2021 13:06

my kids are in a holiday club today. Wahoo!

sparemonitor · 07/06/2021 22:12

Clubs round here all intend to open but many haven't made firm plans til half term is done.

roses2 · 23/06/2021 14:25

My local holiday club was open over Easter and May half term. They are now taking bookings for summer.

Fit4sport are also operating near me but I went for a local run football club as they seem to do a better job of making it interesting for the kids.

Rainallnight · 23/06/2021 14:26

They’re all running in our area

museumum · 23/06/2021 14:29

Our schools break up at the end of this week in Scotland and ours are all running - though places are like hens teeth this year!

jannier · 29/06/2021 09:47

@Wnikat
Have you found anything? If not it might be worth trying childminders some only have older children in the holidays and do lots of suitable activities and outings.
