Morning!

I'm hurting today. Far too much running around yesterday with the Guides! They made me play ladders and thats not good when you're nearly 40! Not sure I'll be able to manage Salsa tonight now!

Kettles on!

I might just shock you and do that Mo

tell Kbear DH will have full english and I'll have scrambled egg & smoked salmon!

StrawberryMartini · 19/09/2007 13:00

Damn - Volvo manual says I can't! And yes I'm a Volvo driver and proud!

Another qu - joined Costco this morning - can I put half of the membership fee on accounts as a business expense?

Also if I do a trip for something specific to CMing (e.g. going out to buy car seat) but don't have mindees in the car can I claim the petrol as a business expense?

And... (sorry!) anyone know an easy way of working out gas/electricity bills for business use?!

Kbear · 19/09/2007 13:02

Oi !!!

MamaG · 19/09/2007 13:02

Oh thanks for the invitation Kbear darling - see you in 4 months!

looneytune · 19/09/2007 13:08

Strawbs - I need to join too! I will be claiming whole cost. As for petrol, can't claim but can claim mileage for anything linked to childminding

looneytune · 19/09/2007 13:10

I got a GREAT accounts spreadsheet from someone recommended on here - works loads out for you

StrawberryMartini · 19/09/2007 13:10

Soory LT that's what I meant - claiming mileage. Keep trying to explain this business expense to dh - he thinks it means Gordon Brown is going to reimburse me for everything I spend!

looneytune · 19/09/2007 13:13

hehe, actually, I have a claiming question.......our house was double glazed before we moved in but the way the windows open is dangerous so we're getting the childminding nap room changed, the lounge, ds's room and ours. Just wondered if I'm able to claim for the lounge and spare room as these are being done purely because of childminding (wouldn't do lounge for ds as on ground floor and he's fine and spare room wouldn't need it if I didn't have kids napping there)

StrawberryMartini · 19/09/2007 13:15

Well the guy on my course said ask yourself this question: Would I be paying this money if I wasn't a childminder? If the answer is no then you can claim. But if anyone else is to benefit then you may only be able to claim a percentage of it - as long as you can defend yourself to the taxman I'd go for 100%!

Shoshable · 19/09/2007 13:20

Strawbs you can put all the cosco on (how much does it cost by the way) I joined Makro and was told as it is a business warehouse you can put it all on. ............... It was only a pound to join.

looneytune · 19/09/2007 13:24

Yeah, how much and how do you do it again, forgotten!

Toddlers got a temp again (nearly 102F). She's fine atm, would you keep unless they play up?

MaureenMLove · 19/09/2007 13:33

I wouldn't personally. You've already warned her once and if you let her get away with it now, she'll try it again. Also, if she's got something nasty, she'll spread it to the others.

I reckon it's already going round but you're right. I've just emailed saying I'll give medicine and if not gone down in an hour then she'll have to go home. I told them last night, I told her this morning too. It's so hard though as this family have been with me for 1 yr 8 months and they've always been like this but it was always ok coz I'd just have ds or something. I hate this stuff!

Oh.....did I tell you what happened last night??? OMG Parents arrived to pick them up, I could see toddler trying to go so I said no, don't go out, stay will mummy and daddy and carried on putting baby in car seat (they just stand there whilst I get their kids ready ). I looked out of the window and shouted at them (sort of) 'your daughter is running towards the road' - dad had left door open and let a 2 yr old wonder off!!! His response was "well, your ds is out there so she's ok" - he's 4 FFS!!!

StrawberryMartini · 19/09/2007 13:44

Costco cost me £23.50.

looneytune · 19/09/2007 14:04

Quick question.....if you get a dog or another dog, do you have to inform ofsted? I think you do but not sure

Cheers

MaureenMLove · 19/09/2007 14:45

I believe you do, but since I've never had or will ever have pets, I missed that section!

I am famous round these parts for not looking after peoples pet very well. Two years on the trot, I killed next doors goldfish whilst they were on holiday and the year after, I managed to break the door key off in someones backdoor, trying to get out to feed the rabbit! This year, the family with the rabbit, left responsibilty to their oldest daughter. She came screaming down the road to me one day, saying the rabbit had died! All I could think was, thank god they didn't ask me again! I do children - not pets!

Oh dear

Just got back from school run and temp down to 98.2F and she's back in bed. Shall I just keep her? Parents would take about an hour to get hom anyway. It's the dinnertime I'm most worried about as if she's like she was yesterday, it was a nightmare trying to feed baby and prepare food at the same time whilst toddler wanted cuddles and cried

MaureenMLove · 19/09/2007 16:47

I would say, keep her for today, since waiting an hour seems a bit of a waste of time, but tell them you can't have her tomorrow. Its just not fair on the others. You can't keep giving all your time to her and not the others, regardless of whether she has something infecious or not.

OP posts:
looneytune · 19/09/2007 16:52

cheers, she's not here rest of week and today has not been a problem, just temp today. i am doing a newsletter over weekend and going to be VERY firm about all this.

now, mindee is STILL in bed and i told mum i would leave her until SHE wants to get up. but, do i wake her for dinner or let them give it at home?

MaureenMLove · 19/09/2007 16:54

I'd leave her. She's clearly not the full ticket. (Especially if she's not your problem tomorrow!)
