Key workers

Does anyone know if childminders were required to decide by a certain date if they were taking key worker children? I am a key worker and my cm isn’t answering any contact about whether she is choosing to open. I’ve got work on Monday! Thanks

No there is no required date and they also do not have to open, I know the schools gave the dead line of close of play yesterday for key workers to say if they are sending there kids in.

Ofsted childminders have been told to close.

There was no date, but I had spoken to all my parents yesterday or today to organise arrangements for Monday.

Have you tried calling her? I'd probably assume she isn't working if she isn't contactable, she or a family member may be ill.

@cabbageking
They can only accept key workers children
@Myusername2015
We let our parents know what was happening within a couple of hours of the government announcement

@Myusername2015
There is no official date, it is between you and your childminder

Maryann1975 · 22/03/2020 01:05

It’s between you and your cm. if she isn’t getting back to you, I would assume she isn’t opening on Monday and you need to make alternative provisions.

Our local authority have been in touch with all settings asking if they are able to take on extra dc during this time, so worth phoning Them first and see if they hold a list in your area to save you phoning everyone and wasting time.

Reading posts from childminders on Facebook sites many are understandably worried about taking on key workers children and increasing there risk. So lots are not offering the care even if they were already caring for those families and many are not prepared to take on new families due to this increased risk.

Myusername2015 · 23/03/2020 14:50

Yes our cm has chosen not to open in end but full fees. So now I’m paying her for the month and an alternative provider as I am a key worker. Nightmare
