Nanny rate - Cornwall

Looking to advertise for a full time nanny in Cornwall, near Truro, working 8.30am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. What would be the salary range for live in or live out (self contained nice annexe for sole occupancy) be? Two children under 4yo.

Have looked on childcare.co.uk but cannot see what to offer! Living in London at the moment, and not sure the London wage for a nanny is the same as the expected wage for Cornwall.

Hi Snoodle..I am a nanny very near Truro. In previous jobs I have been paid £10hr. (But I have 30+ yrs experience. My job now pays me £11 but It's a Nanny/PA/housekeeper/Dog walker role) I really think it depends how experienced they are, whether you want Ofsted reg, whether you need sole charge or you will be home. I know there are not as many jobs (Live in quite rare) as London, so you will probably get many applications..
I also think if you can afford to pay well you will get loyalty and someone who will stay longer which is great for you and your children.. Good luck

Just looked on Childcare.uk and nearly all the nannies are asking for £!0 hr.

Not sure about live in but live out £10-12 an hour depending on experience outside of London. With live in you will need to agree what the accommodation is worth - for tax reasons it may be better to charge him/her reasonable rent rather than discounting the pay (we do this for our caretaker where I work)
