Sorry if wrong place. Can anyone answer this? We get the 30 hours free childcare because we both work 16 or more. Wifes last 2 pay periods she missed a shift for each period because one of the girls was ill and had to go to walk in centre and couldnt go to work and was therefore unpaid. I confirm our details every 3 months and obviously we didnt plan for wife to miss a shift. Are we suppose to tell them. She didnt intend to miss work. Cant find anything online that can help. When you confirm details its for the next 3 months, we couldnt forsee missing a shift

Is there a reasonable expectation that you are both going to earn in a 13 week period at least the amount equal to or above 16 hours per week at National Minimum Wage?

If you look at the 13 week period from your last reconfirmation date, then will you each be earning £131.36 per week or more on average over that time period? So earning £1707.68 or more each in the 13 weeks?

If you feel your wife won't earn enough in the 13 week period, call the helpline for advice. A grace period may be used to enable you to still claim if over the next 13 week period the minimum earnings threshold is expected to be be met/exceeded.

Phoned childcare line and they couldnt even give me a certain answer. Said it shouldnt be a problem but when i renew theyll contact me if there is.

Cant believe i cant find a definitive answer anywhere. Obviously we couldnt forsee wife missing work to take children to see doctor.

As long as you normally both do more than 16 hours you shouldn't have a problem. If time off increases and you are not on a zero hours contract maybe consider being the one to do childcare so you dont risk loosing it.
