Nursery Vs Child Minder

I have 2 DS aged 2.8 and 1.6 who currently go to nursery for 2 mornings and 1 full day per week. I would ideally like to up one of the mornings to a full day also as I have a 3rd DS aged 10 weeks and would like more time to spend just him and I. My question is, is it worth looking to change the boys to childminder rather than a nursery so I can get the days I want? I have no experience of child minders at all. What are the pros and cons? Can anyone advise who has experience of them? I don't want to uproot them if it's not the right thing to do because they like their nursery.

If the nursery could do the extra day, I would say leave them where they're happy. Nurseries and Childminders both have to meet the same standards, so choose which seems best for you and your children. Childminders often go out to groups and might do school runs (this might suit you in future). There may or may not be much of a price difference, depending on where you live.

Thank you. The nursery are not able to accommodate the extra half day for us until May/June next year. Was considering using a child minder for the Friday instead.
