Wraparound care - how much does it cost?

Just trying to think about if costs will be more or less expensive once DS1 starts school. Can I ask how much do you pay for each breakfast club and after school club session. We'd need cover full time until 6pm, although the primary schools we are looking at say they offer it, there is no open info about costs so just trying to get a general idea. I'm assuming most wraparound providers will accept tax free childcare too?

As with anything it depends on where you live. We're central Scotland and £5 for breakfast club (8am-9am) and £15 for after school (3:15 - 6pm).

Ours do accept childcare vouchers as they are care commission registered, but not all are (i think if they are offering under 2hrs care or a sports club they don't need to be CC registered).

Ours is £3 for breakfast club 7.30 start and £5 for after school, including a light dinner, until 6. We use childcare vouchers which reduce it a little more.

I'm in the highlands and it's £4.50 per hour. Opens at 8am and closes 6pm. It's run in the nursery next to the school. They do take tax free childcare.

I pay the following,

07.30-08.00 £2.00

08.00-09.00 Free (20p for toast, 30p for cereal)

03.15-16.15 Free

16.15-18.00 £10.00
(This includes collection from school in the local Nursery minibus and a snack at Nursery) DD can go until she is 11.

So in total £12 a day, if I needed all of it.

I can opt for any of those 4 options, depending if we need it.

£10 for after school 3pm - 5pm

Absolutely no childminders pick up from DDs school and after school club closes at 5pm so we have to juggle shifts to make sure one of us finishes by 4pm.

Much cheaper than full daycare for pre-reception-age children, which is £70 per day here for a CM or nursery.

Hokiday childcare is anywhere between £30 and £60 per day depending on hours. Full day is always more obviously.

Accepts vouchers and tax free childcare

I use an au pair for wrap around care. Is that an option?

(State) schools have 11 weeks of holiday so you need to factor that into your calcs unless you also only work termtime.

As you get more friendly with other school parents you can often set up relatively cost-neutral, mutually-benefixial arrangements. Honestly, though, this didn't happen for me till junior age.

BTW during the school holidays I pay £25 a day.

08.00-18.00 including all snacks, lunch, dessert, drinks & trips out to the beach, woods, park & soft play.

Can book online up to 30 minutes before the session starts which is amazing. We used to have to book the same day every week for a term whether you needed them all or not.

We’re in Cheshire

Childninders here that offer after-school/ pre school rates, only, are few and far brtween. It makes no economic sense to take a reception-aged child for say 4 hours per day when you could take a baby or preschooler for 9 hours per day.

Before/ after school club doesnt have this issue.

Dn's school charges £5 for breakfast club (8am onwards) including breakfast, after school until 5.30 is £10 and and further £5 if you require until 6, only a snack provided. But it's a long day for a reception kid, they (after 5 days, we start early) are looking at alternatives

£3.50 breakfast club, £4.50 for after school if collected by 4.30, £8 until 6 which includes a light tea.

Here (NE) it's £2 breakfast club provided by school and then £12 for after school provided by private nursery.

They collect the dc from school and feed them. Open until 6.

State schools are closed 13 weeks holiday plus 5 days teacher training. ..in england not 11 as stated above.
