We’re thinking about merging this section, what do you think?

Hi all,
We’re doing some work on making the Talk boards more useful and user-friendly for both regular and new users. After looking at some stats for the site, we think we could boost activity on the whole by merging some of the lesser used sections.

We’re proposing to fold the topics in this section into the Childminders area.

This should increase the number of topics in the section - and hopefully lead to more posts and responses to members.

What do you think?

What would the merged section be called?

saywhatwhatnow · 29/07/2019 20:44

I think I may cause some confusion as Nannies and Childminders are not the same thing.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 29/07/2019 20:45

What would it be called? Childcare Options?

nannynick · 29/07/2019 21:57

We used to have: Home Childcare
I don't think that topic title worked very well.

We used to have: Childminders, nannies, au pairs etc.
That was a more general childcare chat board. Maybe returning to that would work if the intention is to only have two boards within Childcare section.

MolyHolyGuacamole · 30/07/2019 21:48

Yes, please considered title as others have suggested. Already parents get confused on the different childcare options available and price tags they come with, nanny and childminder as very different roles

Dencar · 02/08/2019 04:44

definitely can not drop nannies into the childminders title....they are VERY different. If it was to be condensed it really could only be one board under one name of childcare - being broad & all encompassing

selly24 · 03/08/2019 22:45

Keep nannies as a stand alone topic please

ChocChocButtons · 06/08/2019 19:14

Nannies and childminders are not the same thing and offer very different childcare. So no to merging.

Testarossa44 · 07/08/2019 17:45

Nannies and childminders are very different forms of childcare, I'd prefer them left separate or at least nannies in the title of a new section.

Cora1942 · 08/08/2019 15:50

Keep nannies as a different section. Not the same as childminders.

SingingMyOwnSpecialSong · 12/08/2019 00:54

I’m another one who would like to keep the sections separate or just have a childcare section. Nannies and Childminders are not the same thing at all.

Blubluboo · 12/08/2019 13:14

I'd prefer to keep them separate but if you are going to merge them, please include nanny in the title. Parents get confused enough as it is.
Also it may be helpful to have a pinned thread at the top of the topic which briefly explains the difference between each childcare option.
And I hope we wouldn't lose all of our previous threads.

Snowoctopus · 12/08/2019 13:19

Nannies should remain separate. There is already so much confusion regarding the difference between a nanny and a childminder!

SuiGeneris · 14/08/2019 18:40

Would agree that it is useful to keep nannies and childminders separate. Very different issues and parents will use one or the other, not both.

Princesspickle777 · 14/08/2019 23:15

Nannies and childminders are not the same kind of service. I don’t think they should be merged. There’s already a confusion between the two.

OriginalRiceCake · 19/08/2019 21:54

It’s a totally different type of childcare, so I’d like to keep the topics separate

2chooze · 28/08/2019 07:27

Another vote for keeping them separate please

Bowerbird5 · 31/08/2019 19:32

I am a qualified nanny but working in a Primary school. I have worked as a Childminder and it is quite different therefore I think you need to keep both threads.

LeekMunchingSheepShagger · 31/08/2019 19:33

Yes merge it and call it childcare

Undercoverdetective · 08/09/2019 08:16

Be good to merge it and include maternity nurses.

sortedsortof · 10/09/2019 14:37

I think very different options so preferable to keep separate

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 10/09/2019 16:12

It used to be nerged before, no? So now you’re separating again.

nannynick · 23/06/2024 07:09

We were asked but was any of our feedback actually taken onboard?
