question about assistants

I know that if you have an assistant that you have to pay them minimum wage but does this still apply if your assistant is your OH??

Not if he is a volunteer

But if he is being paid he needs to be paid the full rate

It's a way of spliting your income so that you each have a tax allowance

So if he uses his tax alloawnce somewhere else there isn't much point paying him

lol!! I was asking because when I (finally) get registered, I was going to register OH as assistant but would feel really mean if I didn't pay him!!! its also another way to 'lose' money through the books

he loves kids but doesn't like his job (he's back working after being off long term sick) so figured if he wants to work for me he can!!

Be careful about giving up a job to mind - we have been fine for about 2 yrs - but we are really broke now

if it does start to go a bit pear shaped then OH can go back to temping for a while
