Where to start?

I've been thinking about setting up as a childminder. All I've done so far is google the Ofsted requirements. I really am just starting out on this journey and know very little.

I'm currently a registered nurse but would not remain on the register once I start. I've got a 10yo and 13yo, cats and no partner.

Could anybody point me in the right direction of what to start with, what qualifications I need, what timescale I should be looking at please?

Contact the Early Years department at your local council. There are quite a few variables around how long it takes to register, but probably 3-6 months.

I've completed their form for training which includes EYFS, safeguarding and first aid. What else should I be doing?

It's a shame your Local Authority hasn't offered more help.

It's decades quite a long time since I registered. Maybe someone with more recent knowledge will be along soon.

PACEY might have a guide to registering. There is also an Independent Childminders Facebook group which can be quite helpful.
