Hurrah! Its Friday! Dd's coming home tonight. At the moment I can't wait to see her, but I', sure it won't last long once she's in! She'll be tired and grumpy within the hour, I bet!
I've actually got cm duties today, for the first time since Monday. Just the one 3 year old - easy work! I'd like to say its been an easy week, but I'd much rather have been minding actually. Its our party tomorrow and I still haven't decorated the cake. I might make a little cake and get mindee to decorate that whilst I do the big one!
Help yourself to the tea and coffee and I'll make some cakes for here too later!

Cake's done! It looks a bit wobbly actually, but its fine in real life! Just made friend cry showing her. I can't stand all this bloody emotional stuff.

LoveMyGirls · 13/07/2007 14:30

Well im having a cuppa tea and later i will be drinking wine!! I have not had a very good day, i'm tired and just generally not in the mood. (maybe pmt)

Lady didn't come or phone (again) spoke to her dh would said she would call me back - she hasn't - i really do need to give this one up i think! BUT she did mention on the phone last night she might come early next week instead soooooooooo perhaps i got the wrong end of the stick or something?! All pray i get a phonecall at the weekend for a FT space instead so i can just say the place has gone!

LoveMyGirls · 13/07/2007 14:32

MMG - Cakes are gorgeous!! Surely you would make more money, get more appreciation and have more fun making cakes for a living you certainly have the talent !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You wouldn't think that a grown man would need his son telling him how to behave? it's hardly your fault the family has issues is it, some people really do need to grow up! (love the fact you put "the childminder" instead of saying "me" as well!)

MaureenMcGonagall · 13/07/2007 14:38

Girls, these cakes are very, very easy to make! Next time you need a cake, go to the library and get Perfect party cakes by Carol Deacon. You've all been modeling playdough with your mindees for years, its no different with a piece of icing! Step by step guide and pictures. I'm telling you, its easy!

The awards people came & I am in the final 8 - todays visit will decide if I am in the final 3

Crikey - it's scarey!!

Plus I just found a boat for DD

PinkChick · 13/07/2007 15:31

ggrrr...new child and mum not turned up!

Katymac · 13/07/2007 15:34

I hate it when that happens - it's worse than when they come & you never hear from them again

PinkChick · 13/07/2007 15:36

OFSTEDoutstanding · 13/07/2007 15:37

Katymac · 13/07/2007 15:44

Local paper business award for customer service

stealthsquiggle · 13/07/2007 15:48

MMG - I am with you - those cakes (assuming the others are like your toadstool which is the only one I can see) are lovely but not that hard - unfortunately they take an enormous amount of time and patience so when you work out if you could make a living doing it (I tried - working it out, not doing it) it makes child-minding look well paid

MaureenMcGonagall · 13/07/2007 16:02

If you are a cm stelth, I will put you on my list of people who can see them! Didn't want to make it completely public, because I mak them for alot of kids round here and it might be a bit obvious who I am!

I hate living in London at times! The traffic is terrible and my little girl is going to be another hour! I can't stand it!

I'm not a CM, just sneaking into the staff room cos it's cold and wet outside...

my cake efforts (or some of them) are temporarily on my profile.

MaureenMcGonagall · 13/07/2007 16:39

Love the castle! and the cup cakes are wicked. I'll shall take complete advantage of you and put them in my portfolio!

stealthsquiggle · 13/07/2007 16:42

Help yourself - they are all from books, anyway

Just added the tractor as well - can you tell I have a DS?! Need to start to think about "girly" cakes before DD's 1st birthday..

crace · 13/07/2007 16:50

I cannot believe how good you lot are at cakes!

MaureenMcGonagall · 13/07/2007 17:56

Well finally dd is home. I can now breathe easy and think about the fact that its Friday 13th! I'm not superstitious, but I haven't dared mention it to anyone today. Its eight hours on a coach from Devon to here and I didn't want to temp fate! DD very tired and emotional and frankly minging! She is in the bath now and will probably be asleep by about 7! [sigh!]

LoveMyGirls · 13/07/2007 18:18

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW sweet! (so thats why i've had a crap day!)

Nothing really bad has happened, think i must have PMT, hate feeling miserable though!

OFSTEDoutstanding · 13/07/2007 18:25

Good luck then Katymac. Any chance of them running all your cm details so that you might get more business that way.
By the way am loving your cakes squiggle would love the tractor one for ds birthday where are you?

stealthsquiggle · 13/07/2007 18:56

Midlands, Ofsted - remind me when I am not running to get somewhere else and I will point you at the book I got the tractor from - it is a lot easier than it looks.

PinkChick · 13/07/2007 19:34

well, the mum did turn up......... 2 hours and 30 minutes later!...just when last mindee(who has also been very poorly so was filling dad in on how shes been)was getting ready to leave at quater to 6!!!!!!!!!

she knocked at the door and said hi its xxx(her name)..i smiled politley and said oh, were you not meant to come round at 3.15?, she said oh yes but i didnt realise the time(not working at min and child is not in school)
so , against the grain i said sorry i have a parent in here at moment so we wouldnt be able to chat right now, i WAS free at 3.15 which is why i said that time, i told her she could re-arrange and come round another time, but it was inconvenient now!..so she asked if she could ring me to arrange another time and i said yes...maybe she will maybe she wont, but she lives three streets away from me and has both my home and mobile number, why she couldnt have called earlier i dont know?, but id shes that forgetful/inconsiderate, then times that by ten when shes due to pay!!!..sorry am v.sceptical of people who disregard others and do what the hell they like!

Katymac · 13/07/2007 20:52

Fingers Crossed about the publicity

But the chap from the EDP (local Paper) wants to come back and do a thing on my eco nursery so that might get some publicity too
