Does anyone use a babysitter ? And what's the longest you went out for? For the evening or night ? As I'm looking to go out from 9pm till 3am for an event has anyone used a sitter for this long before ? And did you use them again ? Or has anyone ever used a overnight childminder that the baby sleeps over the chikdminers home ? In Guildford area surrey I just need advice on this as never done this before my baby is 1 yr now and I haven't been out for a year many thanks

For that kind of time I would expect the childcarer to be sleeping at my house so would limit it to family/vv close friend, sorry op. Can you go out but be back by 11pm-midnight? I think that would be OK if the sitter were an adult.

Some childminders do care in their own home. My student daughter does late night baby sitting - students all mostly nocturnal - do you live near a uni?

Ebonyk · 19/03/2019 08:26

I think there is a uni near and ya I could get back earlier

I'd want babysitter in my home. No way would I want my child to sleep somewhere they were not familiar with.
I'd also 'try' leaving my child with the sitter for a shorter period before this longer time to see if things go well.

I have frequently cared for babies and toddlers past midnight over the past 25 or so years I have been babysitting. So you can certainly find people who will do it.

I would suggest that you look around to see who is in your area... I am on Childcare.co.uk which is where most enquiries I get come from these days.
I would arrange to meet someone prior to doing this particular evening, you want to enable your child to get to know them a little, so invite them over for coffee/tea at a time your child is usually awake.

I've babysat in Woodstreet Village in the past so if you are that side of Guildford then I may be able to help personally: www.nannynick.com

Hi, I haven't been out very much and I'm new to this. I was wondering what the going rate for babysitting/childsitting is? I have a lady who is happy to look after my 9 month year old for a couple of hours a day, 3 times a week. I know and trust her and she has childcare experience. I live in Sheffield. I want to make sure I am paying the right amount. Thank you

Sorry, I'm still getting the hang of the site. I've worked out how to create a new post of my own now. Sorry.

Same as nick I’ve done long babysits
